Join us for the Little Zs program- where young children go on an adventure in storytelling and the arts. Each week, we read a book aloud together and then explore its themes through a song and a hands-on art project led by a professional educator. We are pleased to announce that Little Zs is now presented in partnership with the San Francisco Public Library's Early Literacy initiative.
The Little Zs program celebrates each child's individuality while helping to develop creativity, self-esteem, language, problem solving skills and motor skills. Using a wide range of age appropriate books, creative materials, and hands-on art experiences the Little Zs program fosters each child's development in a fun, and friendly environment. Parents and caregivers provide support for their child and receive professional tips on how to encourage creativity.
Mother May I?
Wednesday, May 7 @ 1:30pm
Wednesday, May 14 @ 1:30pm
For the first half of May, we will be paying homage to the magnificently magnanimous mothers of the world! First, we will read about a little girl who is confused about what to give her mother for her birthday in Charlotte Zolotow's Mr. Rabbit and the Lovely Present. Will Mr. Rabbit be able to help our heroine find that oerfect gift? Second, we will take a peek and many different adorable nimals and their animal mommies in Whose Baby Am I? by John Butler. And to finish off this workshop, we will work on creating beautiful Mother's Day cards. Come make a Mother Day's gift your mom won't soon forget!
Fishing in San Francisco
Wednesday, May 21 @ 1:30pm
Wednesday, May 28 @ 1:30pm
Join us here at Zeum as we honor San Francisco's diversity this Asian Pacific American Heritage Month! For the second half May, we will first read Lakas and the Manilatown Fish by Anthony D. Robles and Carl Angel. See if Lakas and his father (and a whole bunch of other people) can catch up with a magical fish that talks, jumps and plays throughout the streets of San Francisco. After Lakas, we will be regaled with another fish story (and awesome artwork) from fellow Zeum Educator Eli Africa, The Fish Migrant Story. We will conclude this week's Little Zs workshop by creating our very own fishy art projects! A swimmingly great time is to be had by all!
